CRIS' Refugee Health and Wellness Program and CRIS' Senior Program collaborated to bring a group of 15 Bhutanese Nepali participants to the Ohio History Center Museum on February 24th, 2016. Group members saw a range of exhibits including the nature of Ohio, ancient people of Ohio, a display of cooking practices and domestic life, and decorative arts including weaving, ceramics, and glassware. Participants especially enjoyed learning about the agricultural history of Ohio and seeing historical cooking materials, many of which were familiar to them from Bhutan and Nepal. We look forward to visiting the museum again in the summer months and exploring the Ohio village, an interactive historical replica of a 19th century town. Group members enjoyed the trip and look forward to sharing that they learned with their families and friends.
