“I was first introduced to CRIS as a client in 2015. In a random act of violence, my husband was killed in a robbery gone bad in a restaurant parking lot after a family meal with our six young children. It was an unimaginable circumstance. I was connected with CRIS’ Victims of Crime Assistance (VOCA) program through which I received assistance in navigating this tragedy. The next year, a VOCA position opened on the CRIS staff and I was hired. I have been a VOCA caseworker ever since.

Those we serve often come to us in the most difficult moments of their lives. I believe one of my greatest strengths is listening to people and building trust. Going through my own healing journey helps me connect with others.”
