In combination with community adjustment support group sessions led with Bhutanese-Nepali seniors, CRIS' Refugee Health and Wellness Program has included trips to local parks at the request of our clients. These outings allow participants to explore new areas of their city and connect with the outdoors. Most senior Bhutanese refugees were farmers in Bhutan before having to flee to refugee camps in Nepal, so for many this provides an opportunity to be in nature in ways that they haven't had in decades. Group members loved seeing plants they recognized from Bhutan and Nepal, being outside, and are eagerly looking forward to our next trips!
