While living in a refugee camp in Kenya, Mohamed was paralyzed in a freak accident. He and his wife were soon faced with an impossible choice: accept resettlement in the U.S. so Mohamed could access the medical care he needed—leaving their infant daughter behind temporarily—or stay and wait for her case to be approved, delaying the therapies and surgeries critical to his recovery.
